Ladies and gentlemen,
This year we're truly honoured to receive an address from a great and distinguished citizen of our fair nation.
Welcome to the stage our former Disdain and our once and future coalition partner, the Leader of the Liberal Congress Party of Talossa, C. Carlüs Xheraltescù.

Thank you, S:reu Pinátsch, for the introduction and of course the invitation. I have gone the extra mile this time and have recorded my rather bizarrely accented voice instead of simply just writing a speech. Rest assured, in true Xheraltescu tradition, it's not very long. Click here to play the speech.

Here is a transcript of the speech:
[Friends, Talossans, countrymen, lend me your ears…
I come to bury the past, not to repeat it.
I feel as though both our parties rather got off to a bad start. I’m certain this is why I was given an opportunity to speak here today, just as it forms part of the reason why I accepted the invitation. The past is behind us, both my own party and yours will be pleased to note. We should proceed to concentrate on what the future holds for us.
Before I turn my attention to the future, however, please allow me to ramble a little on the performance of the last government. I can sense a few faces contorting slightly as they hear this, but I’ll press on regardless…
The last government was flawed. There’s no denying this. There were problems when it came to communication, and there were problems in terms of the activity of the leadership. You mustn’t be too quick to jump on what I’ve just said though. Recently in Talossa’s leading paper, it was noted that the government retained my 3 seats worth of support right to the end, and you had it. Despite the flaws and the fall-outs, this government retained my support; it was groundbreaking in that it proved us all that a non-RUMP government was possible. It’s possible for all of us other parties in Talossa to form a government. It’s true, not everything that the reformist wing of Talossa could have hoped for was achieved, but it was a competent government once it had found its feet. The flaws it suffered from were no more significant than the flaws of previous governments, and were FAR less significant than the flaws of the government of the 45th Cosa.
So my message to you is this: keep going.
Keep fighting hard for the votes you can reap. Stand firm on the platform that you’re developing because in several weeks’ time, it is entirely possible that a liberal/centrist bloc of legislators in the Cosa will be the dominant legislative force. And, if we can begin ushering in likeminded Senators, then the possibilities for the liberal, democratic, moderate and radical reforms that we seek are endless. So let’s bury the past. Let’s offer each other a hand to shake, because by working together we CAN achieve our goals.
Whether we see each other in government when the 47th Cosa is in session or not, I’m excited by the prospect of working with you to promote some of the common ideals I believe we share, especially in reinvigorating our languishing provinces; liberating them from the clutches of the apathetic, or in promoting democratic reform in Talossa.
I hope you’ll all join me in liberating Talossa from some of its more worryingly illiberal features too, such as its unnecessary espionage laws and its military governors. Try as I might, I can’t do this alone, and it would be good to have you on my side.
Thank you for your time, and thank you even more so for listening.]
