So an issue that has surfaced recently involves the Royal Talossan Bar and the practice of law in Talossa. I think it would be sensible to come up with an official position to put on the Manifesto. Relevant Witt thread here: link

Getting rid of the bar exam and the law course, at least until there are enough people to write a bar exam and teach the law courses, is really the only way to get more people certified to practice law. I have been interested in getting a law license since the week that I immigrated, and here I still am more than 18 months later with no progress.
That said, I like the apprentice idea, and obviously prospective lawyers should read all of the law; perhaps there is a way the mentor could make sure that happens

Can't the bar exam be retained if we make sure it's entirely automated? Yes it would probably be open book, but that in itself is a guarantee that the prospective barrister has indeed read the laws.
I'd very much like that to happen. Automated exam + half-year apprenticeship, no law course required. And Epic might want to put in our manifesto the need for a more transparent Bar.

A fully automated bar would be fine, but no one has had time to write a new bar for almost two years, and I don't think that is very likely to change.

We could put in the Manifesto that the A-G should have one single main issue to tackle in the upcoming term, which is to write a new exam together with the RTB and make it operative by, say, mid-2017.
(Just like other ministries could be set to be single-issue jobs for the next term: MinFin should deliver the coins, MinStuff should deliver Telecomuna, and so on. But those will be discussed elsewhere.)
