It is my honor and pleasure to open the 5th MRPT Congress. We certainly have had an interesting eight months since the last Congress, an eight months in which I, personally, have learned a lot about Talossa and it's workings. Over the last term, our ministers have served soundly, our legislators have advanced our progressive, yet prudent and thoughtful, agenda, and our members have worked to make Talossa a better and happier place. Our course from here is a little uncertain (indeed, that is one reason the Congress is held!), though, wherever we end up, I trust the MRPT will continue on it's path to advance the moderate, practical, and realistic ideals we have always stood for and will stand for.
The MRPT bridges the gap between Talossa's conservatives and liberals. As such, we are in the position to ensure compromises can be reached, to ensure Talossa doesn't mire in the past while also ensuring Talossa doesn't crash and burn into the future. This is the necessity of moderatism, and why the moderate movement will always be a driving force in our politics.
Thus, welcome to the 5th MRPT Congress. I encourage everyone to help shape the party's, and by extension the nation's, future.
