Azul!
I'm sure everyone on here has seen me around Witt, but in case you haven’t, my name is Munditenens Tresplet (everyone calls me Dien), and I have the honor of being both the National Gamemaster and the Royal Governor of Péngöpäts. I have served in the Cosa for the last *counts on fingers* 3 terms (2 full terms) as a RUMP MC, I am currently a candidate for the Maricopan Senäts seat, and I am writing introducing myself today in the hopes of seeking an MRPT endorsement for this General Election.
Enough of the tired, clichéd self-introduction, though, and let me get down to the “brass tacks”:
—Yes, I am what one would call a “RUMP-er”, as I have been seated with the RUMP party for every Cosa I have been a part of. I know that the RUMP label might turn some people off, but I believe that my record of both voting and cosponsoring legislation from, well, any side of the aisle speaks for itself.
—I believe that the Kingdom of Talossa exists best as a Kingdom, and as a Senator, I will stand strong in my commitment to uphold the current Monarchy. At the same time, I believe that Republicans have some awesome reform ideas that are often overlooked just because of their perceived “radical-ness”. (I’m sure that isn’t a word, but as a Senator, I promise to craft a bill to make it a word.) While I am committed to upholding our Monarchy, I promise to thoroughly weigh and consider each bill that makes it across my “desk”, including those that seek a more democratic system of government.
—On micronations (which might be my longest one), I was a cosponsor of the failed Live and Let Live Act, which called for a repeal of both the What’s the Difference Act and the Semi-Permeable Wall Act.
After the Live and Let Live Act failed, a compromise bill was written and passed (One More Step Towards Ending the Bug Wars), and I was one of the few MCs voting Contra. As I explained when I voted, I believe that future Zius perhaps have too much power to interpret what groups might be a “threat” to the Kingdom, which puts the group in question on a blacklist, making it illegal for a citizen to associate themselves which such group.
Having a list of “illegal” organizations, to me, is anti-liberty. Any citizen should have the right to associate themselves with whatever group they wish, no matter how controversial or “threatening” the group may seem. With the threat of a blacklist looming over a citizen’s head, especially if the citizen in question is required to report their membership (if they are involved in government in some form or fashion), is the citizen really “free” to join whatever group—micronation—they wish?
—On senatorial elections, I believe that party endorsement should count, but only if the province in question (who is responsible for conducting the elections, or “passing the buck”, if you will, to the Chancery) wishes to do so.
—I agreed with, and voted for, the current secret ballot amendment, seeing it as a step in the right direction. (I will be exercising my right to vote secret this time around! ) I do believe that, in the future, we need to continue to make a person’s ballot more secure and secretive, so that eventually, the only person who sees who John Q. Citizen votes for is John Q. Citizen. At the same time, we also shouldn’t punish citizens who, on a philosophical level, may not wish to vote at all (not even a simple PRESENT). We may not have any such citizens at the moment, but in the future, I would be open to considering reform of the Three-Strikes law.
—I support the legalization of marijuana, and as Senator, I would push to resume efforts to do so.
—Talossa should exist outside one commercially hosted internet forum. I applaud and support efforts by the Talossan Media, political parties (yes, the MRPT!), and others who seek to branch Talossa into other websites or mediums other than Witt. During my term as National Gamemaster, I have started a policy to provide physical trophies or awards to winners of “war-games”, often at my expense, in the support of off-Wittenberg efforts.
—Finally, Péngöpäts should become a province open to both virtual and physical immigration. (Provided those Talossan Emperor Penguins can make enough room, of course.)
That’s probably a good basis of my positions for now, but I welcome questions regarding anything anyone can come up with!
